What can YOU do with a Flex Room?
Your home is as individual as your DNA. You may have the same floor plan as one of your neighbors, but how you live in your home is uniquely about you. That is precisely one reason Cornerstone Homes thoughtfully designs homes with “Flexible rooms” that can fit any lifestyle. A flex room is essentially an area of your house that can be customized and used for a number of different functions as your lifestyle evolves. The room may be an extra bedroom, upstairs loft or bonus space, or a lower level. Think of them as multipurpose rooms. So now that you know what a flex room is, you are probably trying to figure out the best use. The possibilities are endless!
Lou Jordan, an artist and homeowner at Chickahominy Falls, has created an amazing art studio out of her flex space located on the Lower Level of her Charles floor plan. She chose this plan because of the large space on the lower level and the wonderful light from the windows which made the perfect spot for her art studio. She uses the remaining space for a TV room for her grandchildren! “It’s perfect, it’s exactly what I wanted!” said Lou. Lou moved here from New Orleans where she had a big art studio. She wanted to be near her children and Chickahominy Falls was the perfect location. “The Charles was perfect for my art studio plus I have space on the main level for my library.” Lou is enjoying getting to know her new neighbors and continuing her art passion in her new home.
Our homeowners love their Flex Rooms. Below are other ways homeowners use their Flex Rooms in their new Cornerstone Homes:
Extra Living Room
Library/Reading Nook
Bonus Bar Room/Wine Room
Game Room
Hobby/Craft Room
Home Office
Media Room
Yoga/Exercise Room
Dressing Room or Walk In Closet
Music Room
As you can see you can make your flex space a “day to day” flexible space that can serve multiple functions or you can go all-in on a special-purpose room that you customize to the max. A flex room gives you options. Regardless of what you decide, there are many creative ways you can use this space. We hope these ideas may inspire you! Our Design Consultant, Lori Melton, can help you design your Flex Room to fit your needs!
P.S. If you’d like to check out Lou’s artwork she will have a display at Chickahominy’s Fall Fest on September 26th. Check back for details!
